Why has this thread below been locked, I want it kept open please. I received a notification at 2:56am UK time (saying it would be locked within 24 hours if I didn't reply) and less than 6 hours later when I go to the forum page it's already locked @Dan_A

Some phones will timestamp notifications on when YOU wake/touch/use your phone.
Example, I text you at 1AM you don't look at your phone until 8AM. The phone might stamp an 8AM on the alert.
Some phones instantly send the notification and use the actual time.
orrrr
It means they ain't solving it m8.
If I ran the show, I'd at least pick an answer before closing it. But let's be real, every thread would have "Restart x" followed by "this thread has been locked."

Sorry but this has nothing to do a phones timestamping a notification when it wakes up. I interface with this forum on a laptop and the timestamp of 2:56am UK time was in my gmail account when I was fast asleep and everything was switched off. Either way it's clear that @Dan_A wrote that the thread would be closed if there was no update for 24 hours and it was certainly much less than that before it was locked

Hi pippip,
Apologies for the confusion! It might have been a time difference. Going back to your main concern, if devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, and with others using a Google Home app, the devices that you have are shown.
Anyone who joins the customer’s local Wi-Fi network gets an option in the Google Home app to join the home. This action doesn’t give the person the access to the customer’s devices, but it sends a request to the current home members. The current home members can approve or deny that request.
If they are already a home member then they have full access and control of devices and services:
See this guide for more information about home members' access.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Dan

Hey there,
I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?
Best regards,
Dan

Hi @Dan_A the help I'd really like is for you to reopen my original thread, which was closed with just a few hours notice (whilst I was asleep) and allow the conversation to be held in one space. It makes much more sense that future users, searching for issues, find a resolution in one place, rather than having a thread arbitrarily truncated and then continued elsewhere. This thread is titled "Thread Locked Without Reasonable Notice" and should not have a discussion about the Home app, any solution to that problem, if it were posted here, would not be easily found by future forum users. This is basic UX

Hi pippip,
I understand and am sorry for the delay. We apologize if your previous thread was closed sooner than you would have liked. As Community Specialists, we occasionally do a bit of housekeeping to keep the conversations in our community fresh and relevant. This includes locking threads after a period of inactivity. Other users can still see your previous thread if they search for it.
If you still need our help, please let us know, as we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Best,
Juni

Thank you, but this thread was only started to ask why the previous one was closed so I'm not going to discuss the original issue here. These forums exist for two reasons, to answer the immediate questions of the OPs and to act as a searchable repository of solutions that other users may find helpful. Since the title of this thread is 'Thread Locked Without Reasonable Notice' that's all that should be discussed here. Nobody has yet said they cannot reopen the original thread linked in the first post
