Unable to reset Nest password- linked phone number has changed

I am trying to change my Nest app password. I have updated my phone number with my Google account, yet the Nest app is still sending the verification code to my old phone number.  Now that I downloaded the Nest app on my new phone,  I cannot use it to control my thermostat remotely.  Is there no other way of updating account or change the password?

Sorry to hear about the troubles you're having, I know it can be confusing, but I'm happy to help. 

Here are the steps to take to update the phone number on your Nest app. 

1. On the Nest app home screen, tap Settings .
2. Select Account. Manage account.
3. Tap Account security.
4. Select Phone number. ...
5. Follow the prompts to enter your password and the temporary verification code sent to your old. 
6. Follow the steps to set up 2-step verification again with your new phone number.
