Verify home address for emergency calling, Nest aware

PanicPound81

I've been stuck for almost a year now trying to turn on the Nest Aware emergency calling feature in the google home app. I turn emergency calling on, then confirm address, and finally confirm location on map is accurate to enable. This turns on Emergency calling, but only for about 10 seconds before I get a notification google couldn't verify my address and turns it right back off. I've tried troubleshooting with support, deleting locations, starting from scratch with new device...nothing works. Most annlyong part is every time I open the google home app, it suggests I turn on emergency calling like it's taunting me. Anyone have experience actually fixing this issue?

Perhaps Google has your address incorrectly coded in its address database. Google has appointed itself the keeper of addresses worldwide (and Google Nest uses this address database), but when Google codes an address incorrectly, it's almost impossible to get Google to even acknowledge the issue, much less correct it.

There's a customer in Australia whose timezone for their address is coded incorrectly in Google's address metadata. They've been trying since February 2022 to get it corrected, but if you review the responses from Google, they still cannot even comprehend the problem: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Time-Zone-incorrect-on-Nest-Hub/m-p/162...

Interesting and helpful but it's working on my husband's phone but not mine. I think I have a malware issue going on

Hey there,

Thanks for your efforts here and sharing your thoughts with us. Let’s check — a few questions: what’s the make and model of your phone? Are you getting any error messages? Also, does your phone have a pending software update?

Regards,

JT

Hi and thanks for trying to help me out. I have a galaxy A42 5g now always says Lte+ finally got the necessary updates and still not connecting but interestingly enough my husband's phone is the same as mine and has video available but not all movements get recorded on his phone. So I have no idea what's going on except to think I've got malware. TY for trying to help me troubleshoot this bc honestly I'm inclined after I get my phone looked at by a specialist to just end my nest aware subscription and return the Nest indoor/outdoor camera. Bc it just shouldn't have pooped out right after I purchased the Nest Aware subscription

Hi there,

I appreciate your patience here. Don’t give up on us yet. Quick question — have you tried contacting your device manufacturer to fix any malware issues on your Android phone?

Best,

JT

TY for a response and I did have the phone inspected but he and I think the problem crept in somewhere and nobody knows why Google says I'm in Greeley Colorado when I'm 8 hours away from there. Someone suggested I contact the cell phone carrier to inspect the issue but it definitely seems like Google brought in the maleware since I still can't load the Nest video but hubby can

This just started started happening to me too today. When my Google account verify that it's me the location it gives is actually 7 hours away. How do I fix these issues? If I ever God Forbid need to use emergency calling is it going to send help 7 hours away? Like wtf this seems like a big problem & I'd like some help Google.

Hi Littlefaithy,

I’m sorry for the delayed response here. Let’s sort this out — are you home when you set up your Emergency Calling?

Before you try to set up Emergency Calling, make sure that:

  • You are physically at your home.
  • You’ve entered the full street address for the home in the Home app.
  • You’ve turned on Location permissions for the Home app in your device’s Settings.

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks,

JT

Hi & thanks for the response. Yes to all your questions i am recently in a new subdivision so i wonder if that could be part of the issue too ? but recently have been having issues that might be malware. But it immediately started acting up as soon and i started paying for the nest aware. But I did uninstall everything. So not sure if malware was to blame but I'm going to take the phone to a place to look into the malware issue later in the week. Got the camera bc of teenagers scareing the crap outta me, I have a heart issue but I really wanted this **bleep** thing operating for Halloween.
