Hi Joeyducci,

Got it ― let’s see what’s going on. Just to confirm, when signing into your Nest app, are you choosing the Sign in with Google or the Sign in with Nest option?

Thanks,

JT

Sign in with google.

Hey there,

Thanks for trying. Let’s further check this — could you uninstall and reinstall your Nest app then try it again? Could you check if you’re signing in with the right email address by looking it up in the Google Home app?

Here’s how:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one you’re signing into your Nest app.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Hello Joeyducci,

Thanks for trying the shared steps above. You can also give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  2. Your phone shouldn’t be connected to any Bluetooth devices.
  3. Cellular data should be turned off.
  4. Forget the Wi-Fi network on your iPhone.
    • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
    • Tap the info button next to the network you're using.
    • Tap Forget This Network, then tap Forget to confirm.
  5. On iOS devices with iOS 14 or later, ensure that Local Network Access is enabled for the Nest app.
    • On your iOS device's home screen, tap Settings.
    • Tap Privacy > Local Network.
    • On the list of apps, turn on Local Network Access for the Nest app.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks for chiming in, Junie.

I followed all steps, but the Nest App, though installed, is not on the list of apps under the local network apps

I’ve uninstalled and the reinstalled the Nest App, and upon reinstall, it does not ask for Local network permission.  This seems to be the core issue.

Hey there,

Thanks for trying those steps for us. Let’s dig deeper into this — give these steps a try:

  1. Check for software updates on your phone. Obsolete OS versions may break some app functionality.
  2. Verify your device’s Date and Time settings are correct and automatically set:
    • Settings > General > Date and Time.
    • Tap Set Automatically > toggle it off and then back on.
    • Make sure that the timezone, date, and time are correct.
  3. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Nest.
  4. Restart your phone. Turn it off for 60 seconds. Then, turn it on.
  5. Try another device if your Nest app works with no issues.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

JT

Sorry it took so long to respond.  i did get the app working.  After deleting the Nest app, performing a soft reset, and then reinstalling, I was able to give the Bluetooth and local network permissions to the app.  It was very weird the app would connect and go the the error screen after a second several times before it started connecting successfully every time I opened the app.

But now seems to be working .  I suspect this is some sort of iOS 16.4 compatibility issue.
