I used to be able to consistently rely on my google home to ring my phone when I asked it to help me "find my phone." This feature was a lifesaver and used at least weekly in my household. Recently, though, I ask and the system says "got it, your Samsung phone should be ringing now" but then my phone doesn't ring. This feature is consistently failing over and over, both on my Samsung Galaxy S10 phone and my husband's Pixel 3 phone. The feature simply just stopped working, even though it correctly identifies our request, identifies our voices, describes the correct device, and says it is sending the notice to ring.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I feel like it must have come after a recent release because it went from entirely functional to entirely not function seemingly overnight.

Hi there Diana Wiener,

I'm sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to help. Sorry to hear you're having troubles with this, it can definitely be confusing trying to fix it, but I am happy to provide some clarity.

I was able to find out that if you factory reset the Google Home unit, it will fix the issue. You can do so by following these steps:

  • On the bottom of Home Mini, press and hold the factory reset button located below the power cord. Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
