Wierd interactions between Google Home & Hubitat

We chose Hubitat as the Hub to manage our devices, in order to have local control when we do not have Internet.  We can successfully import all the devices from Hubitat.

BUT every time we update the Hubitat software, things go wrong: the Google Home app either displays all the devices as "offline" although after the most recent update the app will turn lights on & off, etc. while still showing them offline.

One device on the Hubitat did not show up in Google, so I wanted to add it. I chose Works with Google, selected Hubitat from the list of connected at the top, and selected that device. It added, but when I opened the Google Home App, other devices were missing: as where whole rooms!

I tried again to reconnect, select and add all the devices. Now Google Home App shows all my devices from the Hubitat, but they are not in rooms or in my Home.

As best I can see, I have to select an individual device from each missing room, and get it into the home & room before I can then choose the room and add the remaining devices to each room.

Is there no way to choose an empty room and add all the devices to it at once?

Unfortunatley you have to due them one at a time. Are you using the offical Google app from Hubitat, or the community created one? I ask as I use Hubitat and have never had this problem. I'm on the C7 by the way. Have you asked about this on the Hubitat community?

The whole setup of one at a time, no "select all" or multi-selection for adding devices already linked ... is really lame... just saying as an old long retired software developer...

I use the official Google App from Google, and  the official Hubitat App from Hubitat.

I have mentioned this on the Hubitat community forum, and no help so far.

This has happened at 4-5 time, the last four or more times Hubitat released an update. And there have been about three updates from Hubitat in the past 5 months, I think. So really tiresome.

I have two Google homes, one being my studio with a SmartThings hub and fewer devices. I have not updated the SmartThings hub for over a year, but I don't recall having this problem with that hub...

I am polling for others who use a Hubitat Hub with Google:  does anyone else have trouble with re-linking after hub updates?

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help, @kiltguy2112.

@ptartist, thanks for posting here. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. Seems like you already tried a good amount of troubleshooting on this issue. Let’s wait for the update from Hubitat and let us know if you need further help by updating this thread.

Thanks,

Juni

Hmm, there was a very recent Hubitat update, just a week or two ago.

All my devices displayed "offline" in the Google Home App, and I could not do anything with any of them with either the App or voice control.

I had to delete my Google home, rooms, put each device in as described. Just wondering if there is anyone else out there with this same problem.

Hey ptartist,

We're sorry for the delayed response. Checking back in if you still have trouble with this. If so, have you tried using the command " OK Google, sync my devices"? Rebooting your devices and router might help too.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Alex
