Hello, with many Nest products seeming to be EOL (and I presume that trend will continue), I am trying to figure out if what I currently have from Nest will have work with Google Home or not. I also have a Google Nest Hub, wondering if that supports these products after EOL too.
We currently have Nest Outdoor Cameras (wired), Nest's doorbell (using Nest Secure), Nest/Yale doorlocks, Nest Thermostat, and Nest Smoke/Carbon detectors. All of these would have been purchased probably from 2018-2020 (in terms of their version/model).
It sounds like I would for sure need to buy a new Nest Connect device (I think its called as Secure is EOL), but want to make sure that means the Yale Lock will then still work fine in the Google Home app (ideally without needing anything from ADT - as I read there was some partnership stuff with that), but I am not sure on the other items and keep reading conflicting information on if they work or not - some its Nest app only, others say it work on both, but I would for sure need them to work with Google Home as I am in need of more cameras and it sounds like the new ones only work for Google Home's app.
I am already pretty upset with all of this splitting up being done and no longer being supported on one universal application (which is why I chose Nest) - so if its time to jump ship I will UNLESS Google Home for sure supports all of the above items right now. I need to invest in some more things but I really don't trust the vibe I am getting right now.
Also, if none/most of the above is NOT supported in Google Home, is there any offers/assistances to upgrade things that are being EOL'ed? Most of the products I got were for the long-haul and I am frustrated with it all being thrown out the window now.
Anyways, just wondering if someone can for sure list which of those items work or do not work in Google Home right now, thank you!

Hi @aanders50
I cannot give any guarantees but from your list of used devices, only the Nest Protect (smoke detector) is not yet fully supported within the Google Home App.
All other devices are already working with Google Home.
Things that have been announced that will stop supporting the Nest Secure system.
Please note that this is not Nest Aware, Nest Aware is fully supported.

Totally understand on the guarantee-side of things!
For the Nest Protect, when you say not yet fully supported, does this mean there is "some" functionality right now?
And then was I correct in the above that purchasing a Nest Connect will allow me to continue to use the Yale lock system with Google Home once Nest Secure is EOL'ed?

Hey aanders50,
Thanks for posting here in the Community.I genuinely understand the inconvenience you have faced. let me help you out. About the Nest Protect all of the features in the Nest app is still not available in the Nest app.
For the Nest Connect you can still use it to connect your Yale lock to WiFi to lock or unlock it using the Google Home app even without the Nest Secure.
@RXShorty thanks for the help.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks,
Edmond
