Apparently Google is blowing smoke up our ***'s. It's a change in policy to favor their Nest devices.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out.

Was it working before? Did you successfully link your Xiaomi camera account on your Google Home app? If so, can you stream your camera on your Google Home app? Make sure your devices are within 15-20 feet of your router.

Best,

Alex

Cameras are supposed to work with Google Home, Mi Home APP and thus i expected for them to stream through the Google Nest hub.
Seems that the Google home ecosystem is having favorable devices and unfavorable devices.

According to other users that had the combo, the cameras were functioning with Nest Hub until a point in time.

They used to work with Google Chromecast and Google nest, but suddenly they stop working, the entire ecosystem, stop working. Only lights work... But cameras and sensors not working. No matter what you do, Xiaomi cámaras does not work, but package says it works

Hi folks,

Thanks for the details you provided. Sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. A few things. Are the cameras and sensors linked to your Google Home app? If so, are you able to control them via Google Home app? What is the exact message that you are getting when you stream your camera? Both of you can check the steps below on how to link third party devices to your Google Home app.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Verify the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  3. At the top of the screen, verify you're using the home where you added your Chromecast and speaker or display. To switch between homes, tap the triangle next to the home name.
  4. At the top left, tap Add Set up device plus Works with Google.
  5. Choose your camera manufacturer from the list to finish setup.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni

Dear Juni,

As Henry suggested as well, cameras used to work with google home.

Surprisingly, seems that they are not supported under google home anymore;  and i am surprised to see that change of politics for google home to "enable" primarily nest products .

This is not the first time that is being mentioned and i presume it will not be the last unless Google resolves it for the XIAOMI cameras.  When we did bought those cameras they were marked as google home compatible; seems that this is not true anymore.

Correct, the box says,  Google home compatible, now they are no longer working, they are linked, they work just in Xiaomi app, but on Google home keeps saying that is not working, my cameras show on the Google nest, they just don't work any more. I reconnect one of my old Xiaomi 1080p cameras magnetic one and that one works with google, very slow and the streaming also is very slow and low quality like 2 frames per second on 240p.. is the only camera that works but not well...

Hi foks,

Thanks for the details you provided and I’m sorry that you are still experiencing the issue. When you tried to link your Xiaomi cameras, what is the exact message that you are getting from the Google Home app? If other Xiaomi cameras are working like Henry24900 mentioned that he tried, there is a possibility that the issue is on the camera itself. Have you tried contacting Xiaomi support about it?

Looking forward to your responses.

Regards,

Juni

Dear Juni,

Seems that google home revoked the rights of Xiaomi cameras without any notice. This is also evident in newer models where the google home compatibility is no more mentioned. The issue is on the Google side, where i find unfair to revoke a permission for a product that has been granted approval to be connected to the Google ecosystem and then revoked.

Hi Gregory_M,

Thanks for the response, and sorry for the delay. The MiHome camera is still supported; however, it will depend on Xiaomi which camera they would like to work with the Google Home app. Were you able to contact Xiaomi support about your camera?

Check out this article about the things that you can do with your camera using the Google Assistant.

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Juni

Hi Juni, According to Xiaomi Support this is a feature function of Google Home App, not being able to stream the video feed. Since the video feed is correctly been broadcasted under their App, they consider any limitations to be on the Google Home App Side.

Hi Gregory_M,

Oh no! We’re sorry to hear that. Let’s check this out — could you fill out this form and let me know once you’re done? Could you also provide the Google Home app version?

Thanks,

Juni

The camera works on the google home app (limited functionality - cant arm or disarm the camera or even turn it on or off) but it does not work on the google home hub. It shows that the camera is there but it wont stream the live feed. It just says "playing smart home camera".

Hi, same issue here. Used to work in 2020. Now when I click on the camera link (Google Home) it says: this video stream can’t be viewed here. If you have a smart display or chromecast you can ask the assistant to stream it there.
best

Same problem here.... Any news?

Seems that Google is trying to kill Xiaomi. We all know why.
