nest thermostat application not accessible and password change not responding

Nest application was unused for years and now won't accept password or respond to password change request.  Tried unsuccessfully to migrate thermostat to google home, but adding device requires nest entry key, which is unknown and not accessible on my gen 2 nest E thermostat.   Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @jmgtr8

Did you try a factory reset of your thermostat?

This way you add the device like a new device.

Thanks.  Can I reset and avoid having to reenter schedules, sensors, etc.?

Hi @jmgtr8

I am afraid everything is like a new device after a factory reset. 🙄

I still would like to know if the current version of the next thermostat application supports user-defined scheduling time periods at other than the morning, afternoon, and evening time periods that were unchangeable in earlier versions.

Thanks,

Jim Gregory

Hello everybody,

@jmgtr8, thanks for your update. Unlike the Nest Thermostat E and Nest Learning Thermostat, you must select a temperature preset when you add or change a temperature in the Nest Thermostat’s schedule.

  • You can use ready-made presets like Comfort, Eco, and Sleep as soon as you add your thermostat in the Home app.
  • You can also create custom presets. This is helpful if you want to set a temperature in your thermostat’s schedule that isn’t in your thermostat’s existing presets.

To view, edit, or create temperature presets for your thermostat:

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Tap Presets.
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. After you’ve made the changes you want, select Done.

Hit this link for more information and let us know if you have more questions in mind.

I appreciate the help, RXShorty and Jake.

Best,

Emerson
