In the Home app on Pixel 9 Pro, the pre-release version disappeared, and with it the sensor readings

In the Home app on Pixel 9 Pro, the pre-release version disappeared, and with it the sensor readings (and I don't know what else). I'll add that on the old Huawei P20 Pro everything is fine (there's an icon for the public pre-release version). The apps on both phones are logged in to the same account. Anyone have any...?

When in the Home app and editing automations the icons at the top are being covered up by the status bar icons so you are unable to press on any of them to save the routine.

Using the pixel 8a android 16 preview app

Pixel 9 Pro has the same issue after the last update, and other issues described here: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Apps-Account/In-the-Home-app-on-Pixel-9-Pro-the-pre-release-v...

Hi @GenoGoaFreak,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're experiencing an issue where the pre-release version of the Google Home app and its associated sensor readings have disappeared on your Pixel 9 Pro, while it's still functioning correctly on your older Huawei P20 Pro, even though both are logged into the same Google account. Let's work together to find a solution.

To help us investigate this specific behavior on your Pixel 9 Pro and pinpoint the cause, please provide the following information:

  • What is the exact Google Home app version?

  • Who is the manufacturer of the sensors whose readings have disappeared?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you already performed so far on your Pixel 9 Pro, in addition to restarting and redownloading the app?

  • What is the exact Android version your Pixel 9 Pro is currently running?

  • When did you first notice this issue on your Pixel 9 Pro?

  • Was the Google Home app's pre-release version working fine on this specific Pixel 9 Pro before this issue started?

  • Were you able to see the Public Preview icon and sensor readings when you put your Pixel 9 Pro into landscape mode at any point, or has that functionality also been consistently absent?

Once you provide this information, please try performing the following troubleshooting steps on your Pixel 9 Pro, if you haven't already:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Home.

    • Tap Uninstall.

    • Once uninstalled, go to the Google Play Store, search for "Google Home," and reinstall it. After reinstalling, check if you're prompted to join or are already part of the beta program, and see if the pre-release features reappear.

  2. Reboot/Restart your Pixel 9 Pro phone: If the issue persists after reinstalling the app, perform a restart of your phone.

I'll look forward to your response to help diagnose this further.

Regards,

Kevin

Hi there.

Thank you for posting in the community. We're aware of an issue impacting routine creation in the Google Home app due to some UI elements not being tappable and are actively looking into it. We will keep you all updated when the fix rolls out.

Thanks for your understanding.

Regards,

Kevin

  • Only recently when editing a routine on home app. I've noticed that the phones topper most bar (time and battery percentage) and the three drawer buttons are interfering with the Goole hole display and over lapping so you aren't able to use the top part of the menu.
