Hi Google Home Community,

First off, we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has participated in the Public Preview of the Google Home app since we rolled it out back in November. We launched the new Home app as a Public Preview so that we could get early feedback from all of you. We've been blown away by the interest from the community, active discussions here and in our Reddit Q&A, and by all of your thoughtful feedback — thank you!

Your feedback has allowed our teams to roll out continuous updates and usability improvements over the last few months that have gotten us closer to providing the best possible experience to all users. We'd like to share an update on how those insights have made a direct impact.

Reorder your favorites for a custom home view
We set out to enable you to control your smart home your way by making the Google Home app more customizable. And while you loved the ability to Favorite your devices, including live streams of your cameras, one of your top requests was the ability to reorder those Favorites. So we're excited to share that today we're rolling out the ability to reorder Favorites for Public Preview users!

Easily rearrange anything you've pinned to your Favorites tab so that you can manage your devices and automations with just a few taps. Is the front door locked? What's the living room temp? Need to crank up the volume on your kitchen speaker while you cook? Prioritize the devices you use the most in the Favorites tab for easy access whenever you need it.

In focus: Improvements for cameras
Another way your input makes an incredible impact is in helping us prioritize fixes and improvements. We heard your feedback about camera performance and speed in the Google Home app. Today we're also rolling out improvements to the speed of live view for cameras, and how quickly you can access your camera recordings.

Keeping watch on your cameras and doorbell with Google Home for Wear OS
We're also bringing new features to the Public Preview of the Google Home app for Wear OS. Starting today, you can get Nest camera and doorbell notifications on your Wear OS watch that include images, so you can know what's going on at a glance.  Available for all Nest cameras and doorbells launched in 2021 or later.

More exciting news is coming soon. We wanted to express our gratitude and give you a glimpse into the improvements we've made as a direct result of your feedback, but this isn't the end. We'll continue to invest in the Public Preview program and bring more early features for you to try out. And stay tuned for some big news in the coming weeks!

When will the Google Home App get all of the features from the Google WIFI app?
The details in the Mesh Test is a key feature missing 2+ years later.

In Sept. 2021, Google Nest GM/VP Rishi Chandra said: "we are committed to bringing the experiences and Nest devices you have come to love in the Nest app into the Home app" (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Message-from-our-GM-Updates-for-our-Nest-customers/ba-p/...)

Is there any progress on bringing existing Google Nest app functionality into the Google Home app, and in adding support in the Google Home app for Google Nest cameras and doorbells installed in the Google Nest app?  We have had to use both apps every since we added a Google Nest Camera (Battery) in Sept. 2021 and a Google Nest Camera Indoor (wired) in June 2022 to our existing collection of Google Nest cameras and doorbells.

I would like to echo what @MplsCustomer has stated.

The lack of Nest App functions (when it comes to cameras) being brought over to the Google Home app is a discouraging given how much time has passed.  We badly need the ability to look at recorded events on the Gen 1 cameras FAR MORE than having a favorites list.   Along with the ability to send someone a link to a recorded clip (just like the Nest App) is super important.

Perhaps Google Nest could do a survey asking people to rank features needed in order of importance.  (ok, now I'm dreaming).

@Lazarus,  Hello,

"today we're rolling out the ability to reorder Favorites for Public Preview users".  I don't see any updates available on my iPhone.  Can you tell us what the version number is of today's update?  (Does it say somewhere and I just missed it)?

just need the delay fixed, doorbell pressed, then about 8-10 seconds before my home announced or notify on my phone ,

all trouble shooting done reset etc etc

fast internet and wifi

@Kevin600000 A newer, more powerful router can also help with this, but I'm sure there is room for improvement on Google's side as well.

Would it be possible to make it so the nest battery cameras can be used over Ethernet?

Would the connector types for the power be able to transport data or would that require new hardware?

I also echo what @MplsCustomer. Having two apps is such a poor user experience. This is long overdue to finish moving the app functionality to home and decom the old app. I can’t even get push notifications for my doorbell without having the Nest app installed.

@WhatARob I'm just another user, so I don't really know 100%, but I'm 98% sure that the built-in connector only carries power and it would be impossible to adapt them to use Ethernet

Why is google nest still being sold if there not going to work in a year?

@lawsuit

It's only Nest Secure, the older Dropcams, and "Works with Nest" that are losing their support: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/An-update-for-our-Nest-Secure-Dropcam-and-Works-with-Nes...

@MplsCustomer google sent me that email warning my dropcam was going out of service and gave me a link for a FREE 2023 nest Cam. Came in the mail in 3 days, was pretty happy about that. Of course it does not show up in my nest app with my other security cameras. Infuriating!

So wait should I be able to see camera view in the home app on my galaxy watch 4...

Nothing different for me yet so assume it's a gradual server side update rollout wise.

I am on the public preview, and can now reorder favorites, but still not seeing image notifications from my doorbells on my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.  It's there sometime I have to do to get this to work?  Both doorbells are current gen.

How on earth can I add in and change devices whilst playing live, as was possible in the previous version under 'media' link.

@Dougaloogal I don't understand what your asking.. playing what live? Please be more specific on how you need help.

Anyone help.... my galaxy watch 5 pro is on the Google home preview version, but no favorites or visual notifications from my cams.  Once or twice when I open the app on my watch I get a glimpse of 'favourites' but then it reverts again. Tips?

Favorites button now gone? Or has it been moved?

How do you reorder favorites?

@irritatedpaddy  Scroll to the very bottom. It should be next to edit. On the favorites tab.

I have a Nest doorbell battery/wired, a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and I am on the Home preview channel BUT can not get camera images on the watch. What happens?

jamsterdm

I reckon must be exclusive to pixel watch, don't know of any one with Samsung watch 4/5 who seem to be able to see camera images.
