Absolutely do NOT buy Google Nest Camera 2nd Gen

I highly suggest to anybody looking to purchase a home camera, do NOT buy one from Google. Specifically, do not buy the second generation indoor wired Nest camera. The camera itself isn’t terrible when it used to actually work. However, when attempting to set this camera up with a new Wi-Fi network, it consistently fails to connect, and with my new Wi-Fi network, I require the MAC addresses of each individual device to be able to connect it to the network.  The MAC address is the most basic of information, and every single device, be a computer, smart-plug, phone, or even a smart refrigerator has allowed me access and easy visibility of the MAC address, either on the packaging, a sticker, a label, whatever.  HOWEVER, NOT IN THIS CASE, AS APPARENTLY GOOGLE THEMSELVES DO NOT WANT TO SHARE THE INFORMATION THAT IS ACTUALLY USEFUL AND NECESSARY TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. I was on the phone for nearly an hour with their customer support specialist, as they sent it higher and higher up the chain, and not a single person had any record of what the MAC address for this device is, or a method for which to access it. Google as a whole is a pathetic company if they can’t even so much as manage something so simple as this, because I have no choice but to sell this camera and go third-party, and I will be discontinuing my use of as many of their products as I can, because this is pathetic.

AVOID GOOGLE AT ALL COSTS.

This would be a pain, but could you temporarily turn off your MAC address requirement, install your camera, go to your router to obtain the MAC address for your camera, add that MAC address to your MAC address table, and then turn your MAC address requirement back on?
