I have two outdoor nest cameras. I set up two zones for each camera. One zone excludes the street and I have notifications set to on for people, autos, etc. I set up another zone for the street and turned off notifications so I don't get motion notifications for passing cars. But for both cameras I still get notfications for passing cars. I have doubled checked to insure my active zone excludes the street and have repeatedly tried different zone set ups to fix the issue. But nothing has worked. Any ideas? Very frustrating as we live on a busy street.

I have an even simpler setup than yours, with the same problem. Maybe this will help narrow things down as it's pretty annoying.
My setup: 1 zone with "people" detection on (excludes street entirely, ie: only contains our front yard), default zone setup with no events/notifications.
I am getting "people" notifications for events that are clearly outside of that one zone.
I reported this to Google support via the app but never heard back.
I tried deleting the zone, and recreate it, but that didn't help.

Hi there,
I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

For me at least that issue is still ongoing. I had to temporarily tilt the camera towards the ground to avoid seeing the street (that kills the battery), but obviously this doesn't really work as it excludes too much of the area that we want to monitor.

Hi NicoNico,
I figured it out. When you create a zone, you can set options for that zone. But you also need to selection "Outside of Zone" on the main camera setup to instruct the camera what to do for the areas outside the zone. The "Outside of Zone" option is only part of the setup if you establish a zone for the camera. So look for that and then choose what you want to report outside of the zone you setup.

Hey folks.
Glad to hear that @Klehman60 found a workaround that works! Go ahead and give that a try, @NicoNico and let us know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Brad.

Hello. Thanks for following up, I also missed that setting for the very first camera I setup, but with those recent "ghost events" I already have "outside of zone" set with "event history: off" and "your notifications: off".

I would suggest you get with Support to have this escalated and looked into further. I am afraid I do not have the access to deep dive into this on these forums. I just wanted to let you know that.
Best regards,
Brad.

Thanks Brad.
If I get a resolution from them, I will post back here.
I tried to contact support via the "Feeback" button in the Google Home app but I never heard anything back from them. Is there some other way?
