I’m trying to connect my google battery cam to google home using travlfi for internet.  During setup I can select travlfi as my WiFi but I am not asked for a password.  I have been able to connect in the past but no longer.  I can connect to my home WiFi with no problem.

Hi @Xgarys!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you are experiencing when setting up your Nest Cam Battery. I can see that during the setup you are able to choose your WiFi network, but it won’t allow you to put in the password and connect the camera even though the camera was connected before to this network. Let’s solve this together.

To better assist you, I need some extra information. Here are some questions for you:

  • What is the color of the LED status light?
  • How far is the camera from the router during the setup?
  • Have you made any changes in your WiFi network?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime I will suggest you follow the next steps:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Factory reset the Nest Cam Battery.
  • Move the camera to the same room with the router during the setup.
  • Make sure that your Bluetooth is on and not connected to any other devices.

Check the next articles for further information: Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell and  Troubleshoot Nest camera and doorbell setup messages

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Daniel,
My reply to you bounced back so I’m hoping this will get to you with this post.

After Holding down the reset button on the camera (attached to the provided magnetic base) for 30 seconds I hear a chime and briefly see a white light.

On both my iPad Pro and my iPhone 14 Pro Google home app in Devices I select Add, then Google or Nest partner device (Bluetooth on, 30 inches away only Apple Watch connected), Home, and allow location while using app.

When asked what I’m setting up I select Camera, Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery) and manual enter the Setup Code, then when asked what I’m setting up I select Nest Cam (battery).

After acknowledging and agreeing I connect to the provided power supply via the provided charge cord and the white light comes on and a tone plays.  The light then changes to a pulsing blue.

I select indoors and see Preparing device, connecting to joining device then Connect to Wi-Fy where I’m presented with a dozen or so WiFi options.

Blue still pulsing I select travlfi_rrq (hotspot 12 inches away from phone and cam, max signal strength) and see Connecting to Wi-Fi then connected, then Finishing up this could take a while.  Blue light still pulsing and shapes bouncing on the phone..

After some seconds the camera makes three tones and the phone says Something went wrong.  Blue still pulsing.

I’ve had no issues connecting to any of my home network nodes, just the Travlfi which has a hard coded password so it is not possible to make any changes to it.

Thanks in advance for your offer to help.
