Adding a device to nest but it will only allow it to add to home

I am trying to add a door bell and camera to the best app, but it only allows me to add it to google home app. But I am not getting the video of the whole event, just the end of the event. I can never see people approaching the camera, only leaving.

Hi Mike2,,,,,,  SURPRISE!   The new cams are not supported by the NEST app.    You can only use the GOOGLE HOME app which is missing A LOT of features.  Also, there is no way to view the new cams from your computer's browser.  I (and  many other folks on here) have returned the new cams for a refund.

Thanks for the heads up. Any solutions or are they dropping nest like they did music and other apps

As best I can tell they have said the are phasing-out the NEST app and will be improving the GOOGLE HOME app.  But the sad part is they said look for enhancements coming out in 2022.   I'm not going to wait until 2022 for features and functions we have had for the last 6 years.  So I'm bailing.  I have 2 arlo 4k cams arriving this week to try out for a few weeks before doing anything drastic.  The one thing I will really miss on the arlo is the 24/7 recording.  But there are many other PROS to the arlo cams,  like color night vision and a built in spot-light and siren.  Both are features are what I expected in the new google nest cams and as we know they fall WAY short of that goal.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

• Do you still need help with this issue?

• What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far? 

• Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

• If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’

It doesnt pick up people as they come to the door.  Only when they leave, and I can never really see who has been there.  It works if someone is standing at the door, but not if a package is dropped off or taken.

Can you please make it so that the camera detects as well as the hard wired one. Even if it shortens battery life.
