App crashes when i try to connect my nest device

Hello everybody

i ‘m trying to install my nest doorbel but when i scan the QR code nothing happens and the app goes back to the homescreen, i tried skipping the QR code and work with the serial code, then i can go further in the installation menu but the final step doe connect to the doorbel is a no go. The app keeps saying “there has ben an unexpected error, please try again”

i’ve tried multiple times and with other devices a well but nothing works.

2nd problem: i also bought a nest cam battery but i lost the QR code so i tried to install the camera with the serial code but the code is not visible because i spray painted the camera black lol. I tried scraping of the paint but i think i also scraped the code of. Any ideas?

thanks!

Which app are you using, the Google Nest app or the Google Home app? Which doorbell are you trying to install, the 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell (Google Nest app) or the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell (Google Home app)? Trying to install using the wrong app does not work.

On your second point, you cannot install a Google Nest camera or doorbell without either the QR code or the 6-character alphanumeric Setup Code printed on the camera or doorbell. (Because of this, for years we've written down the 6-character Setup Codes for each camera and doorbell.)

You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:
