Battery Doorbell Camera NO Sound/Super Low

Hello, 

 

front doorbell camera shows video but audio is rather super low or none at all. Tried everything from removing device and reconnecting to the home hub, turning off and turning back on, updating device, airplane mode on and off. Nothing is working. Never had this issue before just randomly starting happening. It’s also affecting other users in household with Android OS as well.

I understand that your Nest Doorbell camera's live video is working, but the audio is very low or completely gone. I appreciate you sharing the troubleshooting steps you've already tried; this helps me suggest alternative solutions. I can see how challenging this experience must be, especially since it suddenly started and is affecting other users in your household. No worries, help is here.

To help me look into this for you, please answer the following questions:

  1. Which specific Nest Doorbell model do you have? (e.g., Nest Doorbell (wired), Nest Doorbell (battery), or Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)). You can check this Google Nest Help Center article to identify your device: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells
  2. When did you first notice the problem?
  3. Does this inconvenience occur on multiple mobile devices or is it limited to specific ones?
  4. Is the audio issue persistent, or does it happen intermittently? If intermittent, how often does it occur?
  5. Is the Nest Doorbell currently in a case or housing?
  6. Has the Nest Doorbell suffered any drops or impacts?
  7. Is the Nest Doorbell  exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods?
  8. Please hold your mobile device near the camera, ensure both devices are connected to the same network, and then run a network speed test. What are the results of this test?
  9. What is the cellular signal strength on your mobile device?
  10. What is the WiFi signal strength on your mobile device?

In the meantime, I recommend checking the audio settings for your Nest Doorbell in the Google Home app. Below are the instructions:

  • Check the volume on the device where the live or recorded video is being played and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Verify that the audio settings in the app are correct:
    • On the Home app, tap the doorbell or camera, then tap Settings, select Audio, and toggle the Microphone on.
    • On the Nest app, tap your Nest Doorbell, then Settings, and set the Microphone on.
  • When applicable, adjust the volume slider until you are satisfied with the audio.
  • Please confirm if the audio issue also happens on other mobile devices or computers.
