Battery Doorbell issue

Frustrated12345

Hi everyone.

I don't seem to get any notifications when someone enters the zones on my Doorbell battery Camera. I've owned for about 1 yr, but now the notifications don't alert me that someone is at the door, basically useless as a Doorbell alert. I've tried everything factory reset ect, nothing has worked. Is anyone else having this issue?

Do your notifications never come or are they late? A lot of people, myself included, aren't getting notifications until they unlock the phone. I will get alerts hours after the fact. Look for post "Nest Notifications Not Working Until Phone is Unlocked".

I have searched everywhere can't find "Nest Notifications Not Working Until Phone is Unlocked"

Hello Frustrated12345,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out. Just a few questions: After you factory reset it, did you reinstall it on the Nest Doorbell battery on the Google Home App? Do you have an active Nest-aware subscription? If so, Have you created new Activity Zones?

@Weasel, thanks for the help.

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Edmond

That's a yes to all questions

Hey everyone,

@Frustrated12345, thanks for checking. Have you checked if permission is on for the notification Google Home app in your phone's settings? If it's on, also make sure that notification is enabled on your Google Home App. Here are the steps to check for app permissions:

For Android users:

1. Go to the device’s Settings.

2. Select Apps and notifications.

3. Select all apps.

4. Locate the Home app or the Nest app.

5. Select Notifications.

6. Ensure that the toggle is on.

For iOS users:

1. Go to the device’s Settings.

2. Look for the Home app, the Google Home app, or the Nest app.

3. Select Notifications.

4. Ensure that the toggle is on.

Check out this link on how to turn on Notification settings in the Google Home app.

Best,
Edmond

Yes l have checked the toggle is on many times.

It previously was working, but has stopped.

Below I have quoted my previous post. I am no longer interested in trying (or retrying) any fix other than a rollback of the updates. If this can't be provided, well, I have an Arlo in my shopping cart.

"Everything worked fine until a month or so ago. No settings or hardware were changed, BUT both the Home and Nest app were updated in early June (6/12  & 6/14).

Every possible fixed offered up has been tried to no avail. The ONLY thing I can't do to troubleshoot is roll back the updates.

36 years in IT tells me something about these updates stinks to high heaven, and that's something neither I or any end user can remedy."

Correct. I'm trying to figure out which Ring product I'm going to use as a replacement. I have a handicapped member of the household and prompt notifications are a must.

FYI - I also have a Nest Protect. The notifications from that come through fine.
