Blank (dark) Notification Image on Apple Watch from Google Camera

I've seen this topic all over this community board and I am dumbfounded that it is still an issue. All of the threads seem to go nowhere and then get locked, so I'm adding another thread to keep it going. 

Notifications from a new Google Outdoor camera connected via the Google Home app are being sent to my Apple Watch Series 7, but there is a dark missing image where the still image of the notification event should be. 

I can't understand why this issue hasn't been resolved or why there isn't clear guidance. It's been obvious for months. Google sends out plenty of notification via other services in a seemingly identical format (eg: Google Photos, Nest) and the image is transmitted to the Apple Watch successfully.

Some form of information would be helpful. A resolution would be preferred, but even some clear information why this doesn't work would also be welcome.

Sad this is still an ongoing issue.  Google manages to ruin products when they buy companies.
