Bought house with Nest Cams. Set them up. Got motion notifications on phone. Email Doesn't Work

Was cool how easy it was to set up Nest cams.  Have the nest app and the home app (still not 100% sure why I need both).  Anyway, set up motion areas.  Since then, never got an email notification of movement like I did before.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  As you can see from my pic attached, received emails just fine before.  Is there a trick with setting the zones for each camera?  I've had non-nest systems before and they were always easy to set up.  Was getting too many notifications before setting the zones, now I don't get any.

Look into your camera settings in Google Home, go to 'Events', then 'Seen events'. That is where you can set the notifications that you want for the set 'Zone'. Hope this helps.

I don't seem to have Camera Settings in Google Home.  In fact, I have very little settings.  This is what my screen looks like https://ibb.co/zbrqQvt

 

I guess you are talking about using the app.  I get to my events and they are all there.  That is not the problem.  The issue is, I'm not receiving any emails to notify me of motion.

@ArbyDarby, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Follow the steps below to enable the email notification from your Nest app.

 

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. On the home screen, tap Settings .
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Select the camera that you want to change alert settings for and select from the options below.

Notification Type: Email

When To Send: Always

Zone 1: People, All Other Motion

Outside Of a zone: None

Sound: None

 

That's all the options and what I have already set.  Remember, email was working before, I see all the events in the history of each camera.  I JUST DON'T GET THE EMAILS as I once did for about a day.

Hey ArbyDarby,

 

Thanks for your update. We would recommend you to reinstall your Nest app and Google Home app then sign in your same login credentials. Go to the settings and make sure that the notification type is set to Email. Also, make sure your settings are the same as your old one. Looking forward to your response.

Well, the problem was never resolved.  Just living with the fact that I'm only going to get sporadic notification alerts
