Long time user of Nest Cameras with hardly any issues. Now I am adding new Google Nest Outdoor Battery cameras with Google power cord connected. Camera works fine, but notifications either never arrive or arrive and within a few seconds disappear. Very few, maybe 10% arrive and work normally. I have tried everything and nothing works. Same issue on my IPhone 15 pro max, and all 3 of my iPads. I have researched this online and it seems as if this has been an issue for a very long time. I don’t understand how Google can buy a company like Nest (or Fitbit) and ruin the service. Anyone else know of a fix for this or if Google ever plans to fix it?
I noticed that on my older iPad running iPadOS 16.7.7 that the notifications work fine. But on my other newer iPads and most important my IPhone 15 Pro Max running most up to date software this problem exists all the time. Notifications pop up for 1 or two seconds then totally disappear. They are only supposed to disappear when you use the Notification to see the event.

Hi RKOLER,
Thank you for letting us know about the situation regarding the notifications of your Google Nest Camera Outdoor Battery. I understand how frustrating it can be since it is one of the most important features, so I am going to share with you some steps and recommendations that you can try to make sure that you can receive the notifications properly:
Please make sure the following options are enabled, both in the Home app and in the permissions of your phone:
Manage your Google Home app notifications.
I also suggest following these troubleshooting steps:
Troubleshoot Google Nest camera alerts
Take note that changes to your camera's event settings will affect your notifications. You'll receive notifications only for the types of events that are turned on.
To turn specific video events on or off:
Here, you can also submit your feedback to gather a report regarding the situation where the notifications have worked on a different device.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Angel

Please understand that I am intimately familiar with how to set up notifications and events. I have tried everything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Google Home app. I have been using Nest Cameras from the native Nest app for over 5 years with ZERO issues. This is a problem with how your Google Home app works withe the IPhone 15 Pro Max. You need to fix this.

I don’t get it. When I google this issue, I see numerous people that have this exact problem. Why do you make us jump through hoops to get this fixed. Just fix it already. I’m sure you can reproduce it in your test lab.

I’ve given up on these guys. They just give generic templates responses. This issue has been going on since iOS 17. It is a bug on their app and they refuse to admit it

Thank you. I find it incredible that instead of admitting it is their issue that they instead make us jump through hoops to report the problem. I have spent over $1000 on Nest and now Google Nest cameras in addition to my yearly $120 fee for Nest aware. Google ruins everything they touch.

Hey, Guys! I’ve seen this issue plague countless Nest users over the last year without any solution floated by tech support so I just created a Google Community account to assist.
For starters, this is not an Apple device issue - it’s a Google Home app issue. Having said that, here is a solution that should work for anyone experiencing this issue.
Next...
You should now see all Nest notifications visible on your Home Screen (without automatically disappearing) once a camera detects motion.
Side Note: Google is aware that Nest notification sounds are unchangeable by users at the moment. In other words, the notification sounds are the same as the many other default Apple iPhone notification sounds. That said, the Nest team is working on updating the Google Home app to allow users to change notification sounds like the old Nest app.

Thanks for verifying I’m not crazy. But….. I have tried your process on my own several times. Within 24 hours the issue returns. I then go into iOS notifications. Turn off and back on Google Home notifications. This resolves the issue again for maybe 12 hours. I wish Google would man up and just make their app as bullet proof as the native nest app.

Yes, this is a 100% issue for many users - hands down. In fact, everyone in my household experienced the same issue via their iPhone for several months and since we have more than 9 Nest cameras / 3 doorbells, I was determined to find a concrete solution. That said, the steps I outlined above worked for my devices and all people in my household so I'm surprised it's not a solution for your device.
Although you probably already tried this suggestion - make sure your iOS is the latest version 17.4.1, as the Google Home app is clearly sensitive.

Ok, yesterday when I got this reply I bit the bullet and followed your instructions exactly. Of course notifications began working properly. Now just 12 hours later, the notifications are back to popping up and within a few seconds they disappear.
I wish google would research this and fix it. When I contact support they act as if there is no issue.

I tried this which worked for Abit I think… but it seems the problem has returned and some notifications are doing the same disappearing act again… something must be triggering it

Yes, this is a solid bug that Google needs to fix. If I want notifications to work properly, I have to go into iOS notification settings for Google home and toggle it off and back on. I sometimes have to do this morning and evening.
