Drop Cam end of support April 8th

So it's April 9th and my drop cam pro is still streaming and accessible through the nest app.

Why was there this big push to get rid of the drop cams and buy Google nest cams by April 8th?

I have spent a fortune replacing all of my ELEVEN Gen 1 cameras thinking I would be "blind" today!  That is money I could have used on groceries or utilities! Can't wait to hear the response on this!

Hi JD77

Ohh sorry! unfortunately support for Dropcam and Dropcam Pro ended on April 8, 2024. This means that these cameras can no longer connect to the Nest app, stream video, or record video. Additionally, you can no longer access your video history.

But don't worry over the last few years, Google has launched new models of Cameras which have the latest features, functions, and even aesthetics. There are even models adjusted to different lifestyles. Best of all, it should work as well or even better than the old one. Check out the available Cameras.

Hi but that is not the case it's April 13th and my drop cam pro is still streaming on my nest app and I still have recorded video.

What's the story?

You're right, the Drop cam can still work fine, however if this device presents some inconveniences in the future, unfortunately there's no will support to assist the situation.

Here's what you might face without support:

  • No updates
  • App issues: so you can't receive notifications, or change settings.
  • Limited functionality: Certain features might stop working without updates.

However that's not what the email said.... the email asking users to buy new Google nest cams said that the drop cam and drop cam pro would no longer work which is untrue and deceitful.   A ploy designed to  get users to spend money on new cameras and "recycle" old cameras that have worked perfectly for over 10 years, never having an issue!   This is deserv I ng of a class action suit
