My wired nest camera has water inside the lens and the picture is very fuzzy. Any advice on how to clean it?

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest Camera. I understand that your Nest camera has water inside the lens, and for that reason the quality of the video is fuzzy. No worries, help is here.

In order to give you the correct assistance, I need some extra information. Here are a couple of questions for you:

  • What is the model of your camera?
  • When did you notice the water on the lens?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken?
  • Did you drop the device?
  • Is it possible for you to send a picture where we can see the state of the lens and another one where I can see how the video looks like?

In the meantime, you can try the next to clean the lens.

  • Clean the camera lens.
    • To clean the body, simply wipe it down with a soft cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
    • To clean the lens, gently wipe away any dust with a soft, lint-free cloth. Eyeglass and optics cleaning cloths are ideal to remove dust and oily fingerprints, and they don't damage lens coatings. You can also use a compressed air duster made for electronics.
    • For tougher smudges, like oily fingerprints on the lens, use a damp cloth with a drop of cleaning solution that’s made for cameras, eyeglasses, and other optics.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
