Camera transfer from Nest to Google Home app does not function.

Anonymous
Not applicable

The last of the cameras that I wanted to transfer from Nest to Google Home app fails to do so. Here is the instruction that worked flawlessly for two other cameras (one of them identical to the one that fails now):

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234

The procedure gets stuck after step2. Step 2 just opens the Google Home app and nothing else.

Just so I am clear:
1. the Camera itself says it is ready to transfer (and the transfer button is available in settings)
2. it worked for one idential camera (bought at the same time as this one)
3. the camera is part of the same Nest protect subscription
4. this isn't the first major annoyance trying to create one landscape for (gen-1 and gen-2) Nest cameras

Thanks if you can shed a light on this new one...

It seems you're not the only customer with problems transferring a camera to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

This customer resorted to removing their camera from the Google Nest app, deleting all history, removing and reinstalling both apps, and reinstalling their camera in the Google Nest app:

You could also try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

(We're not using the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, and are NOT transferring cameras to the Google Home app because it still lacks so many Nest app functions:

Yes and quickly went back. What an enormous pile of **bleep** Google created for Nest. A disgrace.

So below standard we call it KUT.

Lookup yoursef the acronym.
