Camera won't reconnect to Google Home after changing password.

I had to change my wifi password, which meant I had to remove and readd all my cameras.  The nest and two of my cameras added back.  Four other cameras haven't.  I've followed every step multiple times resetting them.  I've moved them closer to the router, turned the phone on and off and even airplane mode.  Nothing has worked for the last four.    I even did a chat session which she abruptly ended.  These are two expensive to leave as bricks.  I need the security also.

Any help would be appreciated.

Solved!  Google support chat had me do all the following steps, and then it worked:

1. Ensure the device is awake and in ready mode.
2. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
3. Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
4. Quit and restart the Nest or Google Home app.
5. Restart phone or tablet.
6. Move all devices being used for pairing closer to the router.
7. Restart the router.
8. Reset the joining device to default.
9. Ensure that IPv6 is enabled on the access point.

@wofmaria

When you did the "factory reset", did you get the results documented under "Factory Reset" in this Help topic?

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162

(Some customers in this forum have discovered they've been performing a "Restart" instead, or have discovered they had to hold down the reset pin longer in order to get the factory reset to complete successfully.)

I held it down till it chimed about 12 seconds. Same process for the two that worked. But, it’s not for the last four.

Hi wofmaria,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm really sorry to hear that you can't reconnect the cameras again to the Google Home App after you changed your WiFi password. No worries: let me assist you with that. Before we get started with the steps, I just need to confirm some information to provide you with the best troubleshooting. Could you please answer the next questions?

  • After you factory reset the camera, does the LED light turn blue?
  • Do you hear two distinct sounds during the factory reset process?
  • If the LED light turns blue, do you encounter any error codes when trying to reconnect the camera?

Hopefully, doing this can solve this situation. Also, I appreciate your support and all the steps you've shared @MplsCustomer

If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.

Yes, I get a blue light.  I hear a trilling sound after it resets.  No error code.  Just a message that says "something went wrong", exit.

Google Nest camera w/ battery for outdoors:  I did a factory reset twice, and I'm following all the instructions in the Home app to connect to wifi.  But it simply will not reconnect.  I keep getting the message to "Try moving closer to your Nest Cam (battery)", even though my phone is right next to the camera.  The wifi router is in the same room.  I'm using the 2.4ghz band.  What's wrong?  Thanks.

Hello folks!

Great news to hear that now your cameras are working as you expected, @wofmaria !

I'm so sorry to hear that you are experiencing some difficulties when connecting the camera to the Google Home app @ArtSmartVideos. What steps have you exactly followed? Is the LED still blue when you try to connect the camera? Also, if you're trying to connect the camera to the Google Home app, have you tried with the QR code and the setup code?

If you have more questions, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery

It is disappointing that the processes is so involved and difficult compared to other brands!  I expect Google app to be better than Tapo, Lifx.  Their smart devices reconnecting to wifi after password change is so much easier!  The Google team needs to improve their app and smart devices.

I got them after I did a hard reset on the router.  Not sure why it took that for the four and not the other two, but they're on.  I had done a soft reset on the router earlier.
