Cameras Offline

Our Google Nest cameras recently stopped working consistently. Nothing has changed with our WiFi including service and proximity to the cameras. I’ve tried rebooting my router and restarting my wired cameras. Neither step seems to have resolved the situation. Help, please and thank you.

I’m having a similar problem.  Nothing has changed and it was working fine before, but now it shows offline and sporadically comes on at 2am, 8am, & 2pm for one camera shot, then offline again.

I hope there is an answer that doesn’t result in us buying different cameras. These aren’t cheap.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Consistent camera disconnections are not what you expect. Don't worry, though. Let's troubleshoot this together.

Are you seeing any error messages on your cameras? Additionally, which band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) are your cameras trying to connect to? What's the current LED status on your cameras?

Which camera model do you have? Depending on which ones you have you can try manually adding the network:

  • On the Google Home app home screen, select the offline camera.
  • In the top-right corner, tap Settings.
  • Select "Device information."
  • Tap "Wi-Fi" to manage the network connection.

If you have multiple cameras, are all of them having trouble connecting, or is it just one specific camera?

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Angel

All outdoor cameras are doing this, my indoor camera no issue.  Router sees the cameras, but they are not either recording, or sending to nest...

Hi KeatonA,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

It can be frustrating if your outdoor cameras aren't performing as expected. Can you let me know how many cameras you have?

Do your cameras always show as offline in the Nest app?

If your cameras disconnected from the Wi-Fi network and can't seem to reconnect, it's because you can only change a camera's connection when it's online. Because of that, I think it would be a great idea to follow this article about factory resetting your Nest cameras.

Try setting them up again and see if they can connect properly.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
