Cameras and a doorbell

I've had 7 battery cameras and a wired doorbell for about 2 years now.  They worked quite well for a year or more, but now their communication with my cell phone is getting more and more sporadic.  Does anybody have any experience with this?

Do you know if the cameras connect correctly to Google cloud storage so that their videos are correctly stored, or, they are not connecting correctly?

Thanks for the response.  When I installed them, I did so exactly in accordance with the instructions.  I don't remember having any choice of where the images were stored.  But it doesn't seem to be a matter of data storage.  When they connect with my cell phone (for periods of a few seconds, usually) all the previous events are right there.  It's the connection that seems to be the problem.

If I understand correctly your answer, the upload to the cloud storage is working properly. Yes you could have a connection problem with your cell phone.  I exprience similar problems with my cell phone when I am in a place where the data service with the Internet is sporadic. Do you experience the same problem when your connection is strong, such as when you are close and using your home Internet service provider?

OK.  My connection to my household LAN is rarely intermittent.  All my other devices seem to stay connected just fine.  Also, I frequently check the router and find it in service.  It is only the cameras and doorbell that have this intermittent problem.  I would also note that the cameras stayed connected just fine when they were installed 2 years ago.  This problem has developed gradually over time.

Hi @CaptainRoger,

Thanks for the helpful information! Let's work together to figure out the issue you're experiencing. To help with that, I have a few questions for you:

  • Can you see the live camera feed?
  • How far is the camera from the router?
  • How many Nest cameras do you have?
  • Are all your cameras affected, or just some?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
  • What color is the camera's status light?

In the meantime, you can find troubleshooting steps in this article:  Fix Nest camera or doorbell Wi-Fi connection issues

Thanks also to @gilleslibre  for their contribution, I really appreciate it

Please let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Jonathan

I've had a similar issue with my cameras after a while. Sometimes it's just the app needing an update or a simple restart. Also, make sure your Wi-Fi signal is strong where the cameras are placed.

The doorbell camera is my favorite. It has a wide-angle lens and night vision, so I can see everything happening at my front door, day or night. Plus, the motion detection feature alerts me if someone approaches, which gives me peace of mind. One thing I appreciate is the two-way audio. I can talk to visitors or delivery people even when I'm not home. It's super convenient. The installation was smooth, and the customer service has been helpful whenever I've had questions. Overall, I think Vivint offers a solid home security solution. It integrates well with other smart home devices too, making it easy to manage everything from one app.
