Cameras constantly shutting off on new home app

What the hell is going on with the home app. Google said,  we have updated our system, we are phasing out the Nest app and upgrading to Google home. So I switch over, by $750 worth of new cameras and now I go to check my cameras and they are all off and say turn on. WTF. I missed everything for 6 hrs. Then I recheck again 3 hrs later, and they all shut off again. What idiot had this genius idea. Now I have a bunch of cameras that I have to press 3 buttons to view the activity which is a pain in the ass, then find they were off the past 6 hrs. Why? Who the hell set this up.  I'm going to have to throw everything away now and get a hard wired DVR and start all over,  how stupid. All my cameras, how ridiculous,  new and old

That's not normal or expected, I don't think. We have several 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells, for which we still use the Google Nest app (and the home.nest.com website), we migrated our Nest Account to a Google Account in 2020, so we can see those same 1st gen cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app (though not with the same functionality), and we have two 2nd gen cameras (a plugged-in battery camera and an indoor camera) that we can only access in the Google Home app and on the home.google.com website, and our cameras never shut off on their own and are almost never offline. We also have several Nest Hubs and a Nest Mini, and get "Visitor announcements" on those.

The beta "Public Preview" home.google.com website is not great; it only provides live-streaming and doesn't do that very well. And the Google Home app still lacks many Nest app functions.

Except for Wi-Fi issues, I don't know what would cause your cameras to turn off. Which camera model(s) do you have?

Hello everyone,

@dragonslayer206, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, how far is it from your Wi-Fi router? Are there any appliances in between your Nest Doorbell and router that can interfere with the wireless signal? For troubleshooting, you may try restarting your Nest Camera and Wi-Fi router and monitor its behavior.

To learn more about reset and restart, you may visit our public article about “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell”.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,
Emerson

These are brand new cameras  I put outside, and some are old cameras that I had for years inside. They only started shutting off when I used the Google home app because of the new camera's. I have been using Nest app for many many years without fail and without interruption. Now I have all sorts of problems.  I just recently signed up for plus,  I'm going to give it a month to see what happens but if my cameras keep shutting off, then my plus plan is a waste.  After all this time, years of perfectly working cameras, all of sudden this happens,  it has to be a problem with the new site software. Why the new cameras don't work with Nest app is beyond me.

@dragonslayer206

I'm not sure what you mean by "the new site software", but I don't think that installing cameras in the Google Home app would have any effect on cameras installed in the Google Nest app.

Perhaps you should consider contacting Support so you can walk through the details of what's happening in your situation (such as whether your battery cameras are running on battery power or are plugged in).

You have to do this to contact Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country or region.

Hi dragonslayer206,

I appreciate your update. The new Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. To confirm, do you have the battery or wired new Nest Cameras? In case you have an update with your monitoring, you know where to find us.

Best,

Emerson
