Oh look, here we go again. Doorbell camera(doorbell still chimes, so not power issue) and indoor camera both offline for no apparent reason. Suspecting backend issues again.

Yes, again. Friday outage was bad enough, this is happening again on Monday morning. I have 10 cameras and 2 were out.. the behavior is different. One kept spinning in live view, but the other one showed totally offline. So I did a test on the offline one, stood in front of the camera and made it record the video. Open Google Home app after couple minutes, the video showed up in the history!!!!!
I did a tcp dump on my router, the google health check servers are up:
- Nest cam made the connection:
HEAD /generate_204 HTTP/1.1
Host: connectivitycheck.gstatic.com
Connection: keep-alive
User-Agent: IoT CrKey/3.76.440524
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
- Http Response from Google:
HTTP/1.1 204 No Content
Content-Length: 0
Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy: cross-origin
- During the video recording, it was sending sequence of TCP data (length 1400) to google on port 443:
192.168.xxx.xxx.xxxxx > 142.251.33.170.443: Flags [.], cksum 0xa70e (correct), seq 2861441:2862841, ack 6311, win 661, options [nop,nop,TS val 4242958713 ecr 3618436652], length 1400
Live view is still down as I am writing this. Video obviously was sent to Google server successfully but live view is not working, it shows "Offline" on Google Home which is extremely confusing because I thought it was power issue or wifi issue.

Thanks for the tcp dump. I can see that the video is being indeed sent to Google.

I have a 2nd gen doorbell(offline) 2nd gen indoor(offline) camera/floodlight(working correctly). I also have a 1st gen indoor camera(old Nest) which I keep for baseline, which is also working. Last Friday, the camera/floodlight which was problematic. When accessing settings ´requested entity not found'. More backend issues. As a former network tech, I no longer have my testing tools. Sigh

I unplugged the camera (it's a 2nd gen, indoor cam) and re-plugged it in and it came backup, Live View was working but in less than 30 to 45 min, it went offline again (I got notification saying cam offline). To prove that it's not my WIFI or power adapter issue, while LIVE view was offline, I stood in front of the camera and couple minutes later, the video showed up in the app history. I repeated this test for 2 times by unplugging power adapter. Something is seriously wrong with Google backend, but it seems like the outage isn't as big as Friday, no one seems to care about us...

Two of my cameras, indoor and doorbell came back for a bit, with no intervention from me and went offline again. Definitely backend. Strangely, my camera/floodlight is unaffected, for now.

I am having issues with the device showing as offline.

Still it working. When I transfer my camera from the Nest app to Google it goes offline. Events still show in the history like doorbell ring etc. if I go and stand by the camera or press the doorbell the live view reappears for a short time then disappears again. My WiFi is fine. I have just renewed my Aware subscription so not happy.

I had to reinstall my legacy cameras before they worked in Google Home.

The events work though. Bit of a coincidence other people having problems at the same time. I will lose all my face detections I have saved if I reinstall won’t I? Will I still be able to go back to Nest app if I want to?
