Can't access Nest Cam settings for notifications

FloppyG

Hi everyone, we've setup the indoor nest cam (V2 wired) and we can see the live video feed via the Google home app.

We can do this via two devices, so the connection is sound. However we cannot access the settings to enable notifications. Both via the cam settings or via the overall home settings they always appear online. Both when the cam is on or off.

How can we fix this? Notifications are the whole point of this device. Thanks!

In the Google Home app, can you go to your camera and go to Settings | Events | Scene events, select the event or events you want to record, and then turn on notifications?

If you cannot, have you tried deleting and reinstalling the Google Home app?

It seems to be more of a 5ghz Vs 2.4ghz issue when there is one SSID for both

Hi @FloppyG

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you can't access the Nest camera notifications settings. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Is your Nest camera indoor 1Gen or 2Gen?
  • Are you signed into the Google Home App?
  • Is the device detecting events?
  • Did you try to use a different mobile device?
  • When did the inconvenience start?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

@MplsCustomer, thanks for your help, that's a great resource for everyone!

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany
