Can’t find doorbell

My Nest Doorbell camera stopped working a few years ago and I forgot about it.  Now trying to restart it.  Never knew why it didn’t work.  The piece that goes in the chime box has not been touched.  The circle around the doorbell button lights up blue when pushed.  The doorbell does NOT ring. I’ve scanned the QR code on my iPhone (iOS). I’m standing next to the doorbell.  I get an NC023 error and it says to make sure it’s plugged in (but it is wired and never needed to be plugged in and we do not have outdoor outlets). The wires are attached to the screws and that has not been changed.  I am about 10’ from the router.  Other device connected to the router work fine. My blue tooth is on, Nest has access to local network.  Now what?

I'm no expert, but try doing a hard reset by first resetting your router. Then go into the google home app and delete the device and delete your home. then reinstall your home with a new name. with the doorbell off the brackets but still wired, it has a light so it does get power, you have to stick a bent paperclip into the tiniest of pinholes on the back of the doorbell, keep it in there for 15 secs while you see the tiny light below the camera turn blue. THEN go into the Google Home app and reinstall the doorbell.I know it's crazy...then stand there with the phone /app in one hand and the doorbell in the other hand after you see the tiny blue light you can release the bent paper clip--then follow the prompts on the app, re-photograph the QR code when it comes up, and hopefully it will sense your wifi network signal and you can add it when it shows up. It's really impossible to describe and Google nitwits need to do a better job describing how to do this because I am not an octopus--who is???  and I cannot film what I did to get this horrible doorbell to sync with the wifi. It is a Class A piece of junk!!! Good luck. I feel your pain!!!

Doorbell does not show in app; I cannot uninstall it (not there) or install it -- that is the crux of the problem.  I've reset the doorbell and the router.  I did a hard reset of the doorbell.  I've tried in Google Home (which I had never used) and the Nest app.

A couple of additions to @valc22 's comments:

a) If you have a 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell installed in the Google Nest app, you'll need to reinstall it in the Google Nest app.

b) You can find Restart and Factory Reset instructions here:

I don't have a doorbell in the app now.  I restarted the doorbell and I did a hard (factory) reset without any change (did the whole yellow ring to blue ring -- it's reset).  I cannot add my doorbell to my app because my app can't find it, which is the entire problem right now.  Turned off and on WiFi, unplugged and replugged in router.  I also in frustration disconnected the doorbell entirely (wires off) and reconnected it.  Still getting power, still not showing up in my app.  My WiFi shows it as a device that can connect but is offline.  I cannot change that in my WiFi (I can pause it from WiFi access but not remove it or readd it).

When you are in the google home app, it will ask what you want to install if you do not see that it is sensing the doorbell. Your doorbell has power, so that's good. It just has to be recognized by your phone, Manually select doorbell, then probably the 2nd gen Nest doorbell in the next screen. It will then ask you to scan the QR code at the back of the doorbell, if you do not have a QR code there are 6 letters/digits at the back of the doorbell--I tried those but it did not work for me, I did the QR code photo, your phone has to give "permission" for the Google Home to use the camera. You should have the doorbell wired in but the blue light needs to be on, and turn it around, on the back of the doorbell is the QR code. Scan the QR code and it should recognize it, then it will go thru some gyrations and it will show your local wifi to connect it up with...JUST FYI I had to uninstall the Google Home app, then re-install it, then give my home address a new name, and just for completeness I used another email that wasn't previously linked to this. It's such a cumbersome awful process.  Your wifi will not connect it up, only your phone app thru Google Nest.
