Cannot WIFI to connect WIFI to doorbell after a modem was installed

I replaced my old modem/router with an Xfinity modem/router combo. I tried to re-enable my Nest Doorbell. I reset the doorbell to the factory settings, turned off cellular, restarted the modem/router combo, and tried a different iPhone. None of these worked. The setup failed at the step, "connecting to the joining device". The error message is "Something went wrong, try connecting again". I tried different ways for more than 10 times. Any help will be highly appreciated.

The problem was resolved by a doorbell factory reset. I needed to hold down the reset button for about 20 seconds and hear two separate beeps. Previously, I held down the button for about 10 seconds and heard only one beep. It actually performed Restart, but Factory Reset.

The model for my Xfinity modem/router combo is XB8-T.

Hi KenWu,

Thank you for posting in the community.

I understand you’re having trouble reconnecting your Nest Doorbell after switching to an Xfinity XB8-T modem/router combo. I appreciate your persistence and the troubleshooting you've already done to get your doorbell back online. I’m happy to look into this for you.

Please answer the following questions to help me figure this out:

  • Which Nest Doorbell model do you have? (wired or battery; 1st gen, 2nd gen or 3rd gen). You can use this Google Nest Help Center article to help identify your device: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells
  • Which app are you using for setup? (Google Home or Nest app).
  • Is "Local Network" access enabled for the Google Home or Nest app in your iPhone settings?
  • Is your smartphone’s operating system up to date?
  • What is the current status of the LED light on your doorbell?
  • How far is the doorbell from the router?
  • Which Wi-Fi frequency band are you using (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?
  • Are your other devices able to connect to the internet without issues?
  • Are any other devices experiencing connectivity problems on your Wi-Fi network?
  • Did you hear the confirmation sound once the factory reset was complete?
  • After the factory reset, did you remove the doorbell from the app before trying to set it up again?

I look forward to hearing your update!

Best regards,

Virna
