Cannot add Nest Outdoor Camera to Google Home

wilsg

I have 2 outdoor Nest camera's both happily working on the Nest App. I also have a Google Nest doorbell that is happily working on Google Home. I want to consolidate the Nest camera's onto the Google Home account / app.

When I go through the process of removing the Nest camera from the Nest account and then through the process of adding to the Google Home account I get to the scanning the QR code and nothing happens. I also tried entering the serial number and nothing.

Has anyone else had this experience and managed to correct it?

Thanks in advance

@wilsg

You cannot "add" any of our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells (like the Nest Hello Doorbell) to the Google Home app. They can ONLY be installed and administered in the Google Nest app and notifications still come ONLY through the Google Nest app. However, when installed in the Google Nest app, their feeds can be viewed in the Google Home app and, recently, on the preview/beta https://home.google.com website.

As with many of us existing Google Nest customers, you have to continue to use 2 apps.

Thanks for the information, good to know where I stand.

Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback on this, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest cams in the Nest app like you may be used too. However, you can now use the Google Home web app to view your cameras and doorbells.

The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Best regards,

Brad
