Changing the Wifi password on Nest wired cameras is not possible using the Googlehome App.

I changed routers and now have a new Wifi password. I am unable to change my wifi password on my google cameras. The instructions say I should use the Googlehome app but that ability is not found there. Anyone know how to do this?

I'm not sure what instructions you're looking at, but you can't use the Google Home app to change the Wi-Fi password for ANY Google Nest cameras.

Since Google Nest does not make it easy to change Wi-Fi settings on most of its devices, their first recommendation when getting a new router/modem is to set the network name (SSID) and password to the same values used on your old router/modem. That's what we did when we got a new router/modem, and we didn't have to update any of our Google Nest devices.

Thanks for response. I had no choice.  Comcast insisted that I change my wifi password. I have had no problem with new password except for my two Nest cameras.

@Brucecal

We have Comcast and were able to change Comcast's default SSID and password to values of our own choosing.

If you cannot change them, see the link I provided earlier for Google Nest's recommendations for how to change Wi-Fi settings.

Thanks again. I could keep my SSID but had to change my password. The cameras are my only problem. I am going to try to disconnect their power and connect again so that they may be recognized as "new" and try that.

Thanks for asking. No methods using Nest or Google apps works. I have removed the cameras and cancelled my account. I have climbed up the side of my house and removed the easier accessed camera. I will now try to use my computer to directly attempt to activate this one.

I removed one camera (no small chore) and connected it to my computer. Using the proper applications, I was still unable to change the password and connect. I plan on removing the second camera when it cools down here in Texas. I will replace them with Wyze cameras (I have several).

Thanks for your help.

@Brucecal

It's been hot up here in Minnesota too, though not as bad as Texas.

It's really unfortunate Google Nest makes it difficult to update Wi-Fi settings.

Is it possible for you to change your Comcast Wi-Fi password back to your previous password, so you can get your cameras back online?

Hey everyone,

@Brucecal, If you are using a 2nd Gen Nest Camera or Doorbell, in order to update the WiFi settings, you need to remove the cameras from the Google Home app and factory reset each camera. Here is a link on how to factory reset a Nest Camera or Doorbell.

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer and @Jenelyn_O.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks,
Edmond
