Chime doorbell pucks?

Golfer196

Installed Nest Doorbell wired gen2 yesterday to front door - and after connecting everything video is great but found when ringing doorbell the indoor chime didn’t work (back door doorbell also didn’t work either).  Saw posts online and removed puck that came with doorbell and everything works fine.  No buzzing or humming from the doorbell chime when or after ringing.  Can I live without it?  Are there different replacement pucks to try?  Seems like a lot of customers have this problem …

There have been a number of posts like this. The purpose of the "chime puck" is to provide continuous power to the doorbell and its camera without tripping your doorbell chime. Some customers have reported defective "chime pucks" and have gotten them replaced by going through Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp), usually by having to replace the entire doorbell.

Another possibility is that your doorbell transformer is inadequate to support a video doorbell. A number of customers, including us, have reported having to upgrade to a 16V 30VA transformer to get their old or new Google Nest doorbell to work, even though this is above the minimum requirement (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132).
