Camera / Flood no longer recognized by Google Home - removed and started from scratch - of course QR sticker missing - why a sticker??

so think I’m using the right six alpha numeric code but who knows it’s not clear

regardless goes thru whole setup - looks for nest pairing device no luck - exits setup - oh well sorry you can’t use your $300 device

Any suggestions? Doing setup on iOS device in Google Home app Wi-Fi net is Linksys velo net

thanks

What steps are you taking to reinstall? Assuming you found the correct code did you also reset the cam? There should be a tiny pinhole on the back/bottom of the camera. Holding down for 15 seconds or similar to any other product you will see a yellow light and it will make a noticeable chime sound. When searching for the camera does it give you the option to select a device instead of just automatically finding it after searching for 25 seconds?

Ill try to reset again today... it does not find the camera when searching you have to go in and select it... tries to connect for a few minutes and then switches to finding a pairing device but that fails as well... then just ends the process...

Hey folks,

Jjcast, do you get a specific error message after it fails to find a pairing device? How far are you camera, phone and router to each other? Also, are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device they want to pair? Those devices could interfere with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and DustinConine.

Thanks,

Archie

@KPnow

Are you saying that there is no 6-character code printed on the bottom of your camera as shown at 1:18 in the installation video (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11003780?hl=en)? It's not labelled as a "Set Up Code" or activation code, and it's a combination of numbers and letters.

Also, if you set your network name (SSID) and password on your new router/modem to the same value on your old router/modem, you shouldn't have to make any changes to your cameras. That's what we did when we got a new router/modem, and it's the first thing Google Nest recommends because they've made it difficult to update Wi-Fi settings (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9223711?hl=en).

Tried all the recommendations including full factory reset - no joy - looks like I bought a $300 light - what a waste and

major disappointment - last NEST / Google product for me

Yes, I am all set. I found the  activate code .I had to unscrew then unplug camera. May be this code is hidden due to security reason.

Given all the problems with lost QR codes reported in this forum, Google Nest really should include a large printed card containing the QR code with all of its devices, with a clear warning label:

"Warning: Save this QR code. If you lose it, you will not be able to install or reinstall your Google Nest device and your device will be unusable."

and unless there is some magic solution I am not aware of its pretty much un-usable right now
