Problem: Without the ability to effectively automate notifications (ie on/off for time of day, familiar faces, etc), Nest Cams are just broken.
This question has been asked many (!) times over the years and never answered or solved. With the introduction of routines, I thought I would ask it again:
How can I automate notifications for my nest cameras so that I am (loudly) notified of activity at night, but not disturbed by notifications during the day?
In other words, how can I create a (custom?) action in routines that will turn push notifications on/off at certain times of day?
Thanks!

Here's how to do it with a (much cheaper) Arlo camera:

Don't forget to send feedback in the Home App about this. It's so past time this was fixed!

Hi Emerson. Do you know why this feature hasn't been implemented yet? It seems to have been possible to do this in the previous Nest app and it seems to be some a pretty basic use for the cameras. I mean do most people with these cameras get spammed all day with notifications from their camera every time their kids cross in front of it, or do they just turn off the notifications (and never be notified if someone is in their backyard)? I honestly don't understand how the smart human and facial identification functionality is useful at all if you can't fine tune notifications. Can you explain how this is supposed to work?

It has also been getting requested for years and years. It's not as though it's at all complicated to implement...
