Goedemiddag Google,
Graag jullie reactie!

It sounds like the internal battery in your Google Nest Hello Doorbell may have failed. The internal battery in each of our 3 Nest Hellos has now failed. The main symptom is that the doorbell goes offline for about a minute whenever the doorbell button is pressed. The purpose of the internal battery is to provide power to the doorbell during the instant when the doorbell button is pressed and power is diverted to ring your indoor doorbell chime.
If you turn off the "Indoor chime" for your Google Nest Hello Doorbell in the Google Nest app, the doorbell will no longer try to ring your indoor doorbell chime and will therefore no longer go offline when the doorbell button is pressed. Since Google Nest will not replace Nest Hellos with failing internal batteries if they are past the 1-year warranty, we have turned off the "Indoor chime" option and have turned on the "Visitor announcements" option (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) so that we now get notifications on our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini whenever any of the doorbell buttons are pressed.
There is a very long locked thread in this forum on this issue, dating back to 2021, with over 1,000 replies:
Some customers have referred to this iFixit post to take their doorbell apart to replace the internal battery. This has mixed results, since the doorbell is not really designed to be taken apart.

Thank you for the swift response MPLScustomer,
Let me rephrase my answer, the indoor chime is disconnected since the installation of the doorbell. Only visitors announcement Tru my Google Mini's. But this problem occured around 5 weeks ago.
So based on your answer, the internal battery of the 'wired' Nest Hello doorbell might not functioning anymore?

Do you have the "Indoor chime" option turned off for your doorbell in the Google Nest app?.
The internal batteries on all three of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells have failed over the years, but with the "Indoor chime" option turned off and the "Visitor announcements" option turned on in the Google Nest app, we get visitor announcements on our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini, and our doorbells do NOT go offline.

I am just another Google Nest customer, and so am not sure what's happening with your doorbell. But my guess is that your issue is probably not caused by a failure of the internal battery. As I understand it, the battery only provides power to the doorbell during the instant when power is diverted to ring your indoor doorbell chime when the doorbell button is pressed.
Perhaps your issue is caused by a problem with your wiring, or with your chime puck, or with your doorbell transformer. (You can check transformer requirements here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9247132.)

Thanks for your response! Our Nest Hello has worked well for 3 years. The transformer has sufficient capacity, has always worked well. So that can't be the problem? Maybe some corrosion on the wires that are attached to the outside of the bell, causing contact to be slightly interrupted? How is it possible that since a month or so, we receive camera images, but no bell sounds in the house? By the way, we don't have a connected bell in the house, but we received the bell sounds on the Google mini and such.

Not receiving "visitor announcements" on your Google Nest Mini (which are transmitted via Wi-Fi) is different than your indoor doorbell chime not ringing (that depends on your doorbell wiring and your transformer).
You could try contacting Support to try to walk through possible problems.
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Since there have been several replies on this thread, let me clarify. If the internal battery on the 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell has failed, the doorbell will go offline briefly (for about a minute) whenever the doorbell button is pressed IF the "Indoor chime" option is turned on, even if the doorbell is NOT connected to an indoor doorbell chime. See also my earlier reply on this thread.
I don't know if the issues raised by @EddyCamiel can also be caused by the failure of the internal battery.

Thank you for this explanation. Can you replace the internal battery yourself?

The iFixit website has the following directions for replacing the internal battery. (We have not used them.). There are a couple of challenges. First, you will have to find a replacement battery online, since Google Nest doesn't sell them. Second, the doorbell is not designed for user-maintenance, so prying the doorbell open and then sealing it up again can be difficult.

My described problem with the Nest Hello "... the camera is just active, only when we ring the doorbell we no longer hear a bell sound over our Google devices in the house." That problem has now been solved.
It turned out that the settings in the Google Home app had changed, were no longer correct.
The solution was found as follows:
1. Via the mobile phone, search for: Google Nest Home, Google home.
2. At the bottom of the menu: click on [devices]
3. Select The room in which you have the devices, in our case that is [Downstairs]
4. Select the Gear [Settings]
5. Then: [Device functions], then [Notifications and digital well-being]
6. Check: "Do not disturb", that must be off! The wrong setting was in that last setting.
Hopefully, this will help others too.
