Doorbell (Battery) volume in Android app

Hello,

Late last year I reported an issue where the Home app when connected and streaming from the Doorbell (battery), or when playing back recordings, could not use the default volume control. You had to open volume and manually set the Media volume. The default volume keys were adjusting 'in call' volume.

Since then the live streaming volume has been fixed and the app now utilises 'in call' volume matching the volume keys, however the playback of recordings still uses Media volume and whilst in playback the volume buttons still default control to 'in call' volume.

Can this be looked at?  Phone is a Samsung S23ULTRA running all factory defaults and using the Google home app. All software is updated regularly.

Hi @JustAskDave

Thank you for reaching out to our support community! We appreciate you providing such detailed information regarding the volume control issue with your Google Home app and Nest Doorbell (battery). I understand your frustration with the inconsistent volume behavior between live streaming and playback recordings, particularly on your Samsung S23 Ultra, and I'm here to help!

To help me better understand the situation, I'd like to ask you a few questions:

  • What troubleshooting have you done?
  •  What is the software version of the Home app?
  • What is the software version of your Samsung S23 Ultra?
  •  Have you used another phone to verify if you have the same volume problem?
  • When you play back a recording, do you have to press the volume up button to hear the recording?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo
