I posted about this same issue 2 years ago and it still hasn't changed. I just watched a kid walk up to and stand in my yard staring at my porch, then walk off... None of it was recorded. I have every time the wind blows, both due to sound and motion, but not an actual person standing 15 feet from the doorbell.
I have the wired doorbell, so not the one that shuts down due to battery, and it's 530 in the summer, so plenty of light. I don't understand how every bug flying by, change in the shadows from the trees, and the sound of the rain is all caught, but actual people, the main reason I got this thing for... Nothing. So I have no idea what I'm missing when I'm not looking out the window or our other Google camera happens to pick up people who had to have walked by the doorbell camera.
I have another camera (from a different manufacturer) in a bird feeder that can differentiate between people, pets, birds, and cars, and it's cheaper over the year, but this relatively expensive doorbell camera and program can't pick up more than wind or someone getting all the way to my door before it decides it's worth recording even though I have zones set up to record.
Also, while writing this, same kid just walked past the door again... Nothing from the doorbell, but my bird feeder caught them.

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand how frustrating it is when your Nest Doorbell camera doesn't detect people when motion is triggered, and you mentioned that this has been an ongoing situation for you for two years without a solution. Don't worry, I'm here to help.
