I’ve been in customer service hell…
my doorbell does not have or show the UI for any talkback features in the Google Home app.
home app > click doorbell tile > video feed.
Theres no talk ui or quick response. We can hear through the mic. I’ve checked all microphone / privileges and reinstalled and updated and went as far as going through ranks of multiple customer service reps to get a replacement. I’ve also tried to set it up in the Nest app but it won’t allow me and directs me to the home app.
The replacement also does not show any UI with a microphone button on the video feed as stated in the directions online etc.
No cs has supplied a “here’s what’s wrong”. Both family members see no talk feature on our new iPhones.
I’ve rechecked all our settings, in app and in phone. Why would the ui be missing vs grayed out if something was off?
please tell me it’s something simple I’ve overlooked.

Hi Superfungo,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are experiencing inconveniences when you're trying to talk with your Google Nest Doorbell, and I'm happy to assist you.
Before we proceed, I need to ask a few questions to better understand the situation:
I look forward to your response.

Manuel

- It’s not interference. Sound and video are optimal. Notifications work. There’s no way for me to talk to someone in the iOS home app. It’s just missing, where directions say tap microphone, there’s no buttons.
- I have a brand new replacement that has the same ui issue.
- Theres been absolutely no ui present since arrival, didn’t notice till my babysitter was locked out. And all I could do was flash smart lights as we ended our anniversary dinner early.
i did just get a message from cs finally to come back to a chat, I’m trying to find time…
it’s a very strange bug as if the new battery doorbell lacks the feature on iPhone home app? Older Nest versions all have different ui from what my friends show.
I’ve done EVERY resetting and check possible. I really want it to be something silly so I can head into my 40s knowing the tech knowledge support can finally be passed on to my children.

Hi Superfungo,
Thanks for sending the screenshot. In your first post, you mentioned checking microphone permissions. Could you confirm if you tried the following steps to check if the microphone is enabled?
I look forward to your response.

All privileges are enabled, tried switching on and off and reinstall app, reinstall camera, everything up to date.
This issues is shared across a family account on two new iPhones and the replacement doorbell Google sent me.
i tested out my old nest cam, and that works with the talk feature in the nest app.

I already have a case with cs currently going. Newest update is that they’re sending me a 3rd doorbell to try.
