I bought a wireless doorbell/camera and got it set up. I need something that makes a sound when the bell is pressed. The BestBuy guy (where I bought it recently) suggested “getting an old phone” to use as a speaker. Seriously.
I imagined a chime that was wirelessly linked to the doorbell. I can’t even get it to ring on my iPhone. Can anyone pass me a clue, please?

Google Nest doorbells send notifications to our phones, but do not "ring" our phones.
You can purchase a Nest Mini (https://store.google.com/product/google_nest_mini?hl=en-US) or Nest Hub (https://store.google.com/us/product/nest_hub_2nd_gen?hl=en-US), and then turn on "Visitor announcements" for your doorbell in the Google Home app to get announcements via Wi-Fi on that device when the doorbell is pressed (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451?hl=en).
