Doorbell doesn’t Ring?

I just installed the google n’est doorbell and I can’t figure out why it doesn’t ring. I mean it rings softly at the front door letting the visitor think you know they are there BUT it doesn’t make a sound up in my apartment and I have no idea I am missing my guests and deliveries. Sure If I check my phone for notifications every 30 seconds I might know to answer the door but what use is a doorbell that doesn’t ring? Did I miss something crucial in the set up? I have been going over it and notifications seem to all concern themselves with badges.

I presume you mean ringing your regular doorbell chime?   If so, make sure you have the setting for that turned on in the Google Home app.  I think it defaults to off.   Of course it has to be connected to your doorbell wires, as well for that to work.

Actually I knew I didn’t have extra piece to activate the doorbell chime. What I thought was there would be some kind of a bell notification on my phone similar to the type of notification you might get or a text.

The nest doorbell (battery), doesn't require anything extra to attach the chime.  Just hook it to the doorbell wires as is.  If you have the nest Hello doorbell, that does require a chime adapter.

On the phone not ringing, unfortunately the new doorbell does not support that.
