Doorbell not linking to Google Hub consistently

I really need help please to understand what is happening between my doorbell camera and my Google Hub in order to get them to talk to one another consistently because, at the moment, I am at a complete loss .

My doorbell camera shows video on my mobile phone at all times, which is the control. That is to say, when it was initially installed by a recommended installation company, the doorbell was linked to Nest via my phone. I added a Google Hub soon after but in recent months, the doorbell and Hub only connect intermittently. When the bell does not connect, the Hub states that the doorbell is offline.

Initially I had a doorbell and  garden camera installed by a Nest recommended company. Both ran on the house electrical system, not batteries. I added a Google Home Hub soon after and connected both cameras to it. For more than 12 months all was fine but then both cameras began to 'disconnect' randomly.  The Hub stated that the cameras were offline but both cameras still played on my phone so, I knew that was not the case. I therefore assumed it was the fault of the hub and so, after a lot of disconnecting and re-connecting, just to make sure, I bought a new hub.

All was well again for a time but the problem eventually resurfaced. The garden camera finally stopped working on both the Hub and phone. I have concluded that the garden camera needs to be replaced but have not done so yet because I am wondering whether to buy an alternative make.

I tried:

1. Switching the doorbell off and on at the plug.

2. Switching the internet off and on.

3. Re-connecting the doorbell to the Wi-Fi, (although it plays on my phone).

Nothing has made any difference. In fact when I held my phone next to the doorbell to try to reconnect through Nest, the system did not recognise the doorbell..

I am at a total loss as to what I should do, other than throw the hub in the bin. HELP please!

Hello dnq,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out.Just a few questions: What model of Nest camera and Nest doorbell do you have? How far are the camera and doorbell from the router? And are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera? Have you tried doing a factory reset on those Nest devices and reinstalling them on the Nest or Google Home app?

Here is a link on how to factory reset your Nest camera or Nest Doorbell.

I look forward to your response.

Thanks,
Edmond
