I have just fixed our Google nest battery doorbell. Most things work including the video and live sound. However pressing the doorbell neither raises a notification nor an alert on my phone, This is useless as a doorbell! Does anyone have this problem or has anyone else had it and found a solution. I am about to return it to John Lewis, where I bought it and suggest that they stop stocking it as it isn't a "doorbell" in any sense of the word.
I am getting no help from Google in spite of several complaints.
Regards, Thomas

Thank you but it seems, after a lot rummaging around on the web, that the battery version of the doorbell doesn't make any sound! There is nothing about this on the box, and it's probably too late to return it because it's already been unboxed and mounted by the door. I believe I may have an actionable case under the UK Trades Description Act, because it cannot be a doorbell, if it doesn't ring a bell! I'm actually quite cross about this and will be going to the store in Cambridge to lodge a formal complaint. I believe it may work with the Google mini speaker so I may ask the store for a free mini speaker to settle the matter out of court.

Like all doorbells, if your battery doorbell is NOT wired to an internal doorbell chime, then it cannot ring an indoor doorbell "bell". When we bought our Nest Hello Doorbells, the instructions assumed we were replacing an existing doorbell and already had an existing indoor doorbell chime.
The battery doorbell, like all Google Nest doorbells, SHOULD set notifications to your phone if you have "Push notifications" enabled (for when the doorbell is pushed) and notifications enabled under "Seen events" (for events other than when the doorbell is pushed). The link that @listairee provided above has instructions for configuring notifications in the Google Home app. And from other posts in this forum, it seems that on an Android phone, you can configure the notification sound for the Google Home app. (We have iPhones, and we have to enable notification in iOS for the Google Home app. I don't know if there is an equivalent setting in the Android operating system.)
If you have "Push notifications" enabled and notifications are enabled for the Google Home app in your Android operating system, and you are still not getting notifications, you could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in the post below, for further assistance:
