Doorbells not showing live video but my floodlights are and my nest cam died at the same time

Hello there,

Everything in the house was working just fine until September 9th, which just so happens to be the day my Nest Aware subscription renewed (?!?).  On that day my 1st generation Nest Cam (AD0005) went completely dead (no power, reset not working) and my two battery doorbells stopped showing live video.  The doorbells are still detecting motion, showing video history - that's all fine, just no live video.  They spin for a while in Google Home, then I get the live video not available message - for both of them.  Meanwhile my two floodlight cameras are still working fine, no issues.  What's going on here?  Thanks.

I'm having the same issue with my battery doorbell. I haven't been able to get it to show live video for months, but it does record events.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the live video from the Nest devices. Let’s check it out.

Please try the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Check for any available iOS or Android updates and install them, if there are any.
  2. Uninstall the Google Home app.
  3. Restart the mobile device.
  4. Re-install the Google Home app and check if the issue is resolved.
  5. If the issue persists, run a speed test at the location of the device and check the upload speed. Here’s a guide to the Internet bandwidth and speed requirements for Nest cameras.
  6. If a slow connection at home is the cause of the issue with your camera, change its video quality to a lower setting.
  7. Open the Home app .
  8. Tap your device's tile.
  9. Tap Settings Video.
  10. Lower the video quality from Max to High.
  11. Change the connection from Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa if the live video still isn’t loading.

You can check out this help center article to learn how to troubleshoot if the video doesn't play, pauses, or skips.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Lance
