Can you download video clips (or 24/7 video monitoring) from the google home website? If not, how are you supposed to get this recording onto a computer? It would be ridiculous if you have to download it to your phone and THEN upload to a computer, since all of this footage should be on the cloud.

Unfortunately, that's the current reality. Unlike the home.nest.com website for our older cameras, the "preview" home.google.com website only provides live-streaming.

How can I get my 24/7 video from the app? There are events that the motion detection does not register but I would like to have. From the app you can only choose clips, but the footage I want is outside the clip.

Unfortunately, the Google Home app does not have the same ability that the Google Nest app and the home.nest.com website have for selecting a time range and creating a clip that can be downloaded.
Other customers in this forum report that the iPhone's built-in screen record feature can be used--somewhat clumsily--to create a clip of footage that was not flagged as an event.

So there is no way to download the footage from the cloud? Isn't that where everything is being saved? I need to have this video to report a crime and a lot of the action is not captured as a "clip". I have Nest Aware.

Unfortunately, there is no way to download footage recorded via the Google Home app if it is not flagged as an event clip. We have to resort to using some sort of tool that captures the video while playing the footage on our mobile device. It's not like our older cameras that work in the Google Nest app.

That is insane. And frankly embarrassing for google.

Thanks JT, I'm trying this now. If possible please don't close this thread yet so I can update you on whether it works or not. At the moment is says it might take "hours or even days" to download.

Hi JT,
So the takeout downloaded but when I access the files there is no record of the continuous footage (which is what I was expecting) -- it is just clips and they are very strangely organized. Could you possibly provide an example of what this download should look like?
03-08-2023 09:43 AM
In the Google Home app, you can ONLY download events that Google Nest has detected. To view footage that is between detected events (IF you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription), you have to drag along the horizontal timeline; it is slow and cumbersome.

Thanks, but I meant when I download the video footage from the cloud. I was expecting all 24/7 footage; instead it seems to have only downloaded clips, which is not sufficient. @janthadeus can you answer the above question?

Hello Cs3,
Thanks for getting back to us. You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You cannot download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.
Best,
JT
