There needs to be a dusk to dawn option for this where the light automatically comes on at dusk and shuts off at dawn. Our previous floodlight we had installed had this and it was great. Sure, I can turn the light on manually while that is not the best solution. The light coming on shouldn't be tied only to the events the camera picks up.
Google, PLEASE make this change and quickly!

@arlocamesetup I don't see how you're going to be able to help for a Google camera/floodlight??

Hello everyone,
@afaucher8789 having a separate option for the floodlight timer is a cool and interesting feature. We appreciate your interest however, we don't have any news to share about applying this feature through the Nest app or Google Home app. I'd suggest you send feedback about your concern using this form shared above. Aside from your feature request, is there anything else I can help you with?
I appreciate the help, Brad.
Regards,
Emerson

Hi Ebedia,
Thank you for the response on this. I got a chuckle out of your statement of having a separate option for the floodlight timer is a cool and interesting feature. It found it odd that the floodlight didn't have the feature as it's pretty standard. Someone typically installs a floodlight because they want to light a space when it's dark to either have visibility or deter other activity from taking place. Yes floodlights have most always had a sensor feature that they'll turn on when needed to help conserve energy and/or scare people or things away while the basic function of a light is to light a space and not randomly turn off because no one is around. Every other floodlight I've installed or owned had the function to be on always via direct or switched wiring, dusk to dawn, or only when something is detected with adjustments on the detection range.
While I, again, appreciate your response this is a basic function that should be included and not an after thought for a development team to ponder on. If I can toggle the light to stay on in the app itself than the majority of the work is already done. Tie it into the dusk to dawn feature to come on at dusk and turn off at dawn.
I could also take apart the device and direct wire the lights to another sensor that would complete that feature as well while, for the money, I shouldn't have too.

Hi Brad,
How do I go about learning of a potential change or upgrade in regards to my request. Call me crazy but it also seems kind of odd that a light doesn't stay on when it's dark if I want it to on its own.

The features that you are looking for are a request, so I cannot give you any form of ETA. This thread would simply be a Feature Request thread if you're asking for a setting or feature that isn't currently available. The feedback you provide will go to our engineers etc. but I can't guarantee your feature will be implemented.
Best regards,
Brad
