Extending Event Length

PatrickCox
Community Member

I switched from the Nest app to Google Home. The event recording through Home is frustrating because it is too short and keeps me from being able to just freely watch from before to after an event. If I start watching video then it gets to an event the feed just stops at the end of the event. The event clips themselves are too short to see what happened. YouTube and Gemini showed steps to select the device > Settings > Video > Maximum Event Length. However, when I follow these steps there is no "Video" option. There is only the option to change the video history type but nothing to allow me to extend event clips. Am I missing something?

Hi PatrickCox,

Thank you for posting in the community. I see you’re having trouble with the length of the event history recorded from your Nest devices in the Google Home app showing a short event and preventing you from keeping watching the history from the beginning to the end of the history after transferring from the Nest app to the Google Home app. I understand how frustrating this can be and I appreciate all the troubleshooting steps you’ve already taken. I’m here to help.

To assist you better, please answer the following questions:

  • Which specific Nest models are you using? (Here is a helpful article to confirm the type of Nest Cameras and Doorbells).
  • What is the make and model of the device you use to manage your Nest devices, Android or iOS?
  • Does the live video stream load successfully within the Google Home app?
  • Do you have a Google Home Premium Subscription? If so, what type is it? (Here a helpful article to identify the type of Google Home Premium Subscription you have).

Please let me know your findings.

Regards,

Byron
