Extreme Video Lag on Google Home

IK1
Community Member

I setup Google Nest Cams across at my place with a doorbell only to find out that it's literally unusable due to the extreme lag. The doorbell and the outdoor cams all have the same issue. I am running IOS 16.5 on an iPhone 11 Pro. Internet at home is fast and stable.

Does anyone how to resolve this?

Hello IK1,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, how far are your Nest Cameras and Nest Doorbell from your Wifi router? What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far? Try restarting your Nest Cameras, Nest Doorbell and Wifi router. Let us know how it goes.

Emerson

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest Camera? We would appreciate it if you could share the information I’m asking above. Also, were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks,

The router is around 30-40 ft from the farthest camera. I have restarted the router several times but it doesn't get fixed. The google home app seems to work fine on my wife's android phone.

Hi IK1,

I’m sorry for the delay. Thanks for getting back to us. Let's try these troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Go to your iPhone's Settings > General > Date and Time.
  2. Tap Set Automatically > toggle it off, and then turn it back on.
  3. Make sure that the timezone, date, and time are correct.
  4. Next, go back to iPhone Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Nest.
  5. Confirm that the Google Home app has permission to use the phone's location.
  6. Check the Apple Store for Google Home app updates.
  7. Check for any available iOS updates.

If the issue persists, uninstall the Google Home app from the iPhone, restart the phone, and then reinstall the app from the Apple App Store.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks for the help, Emerson.

Best,

Lance
